What this check proves, and what it does not
A reading that hides its limits is not a reading. Here is exactly what the measurement proves, and where it stops.
What it proves
- The check starts in your browser: it measures the real path between your connection and our servers, not the view of a monitoring machine sitting somewhere else.
- An answer proves that the site served a real file rather than an error page: the probe loads an image, and an image only decodes if the bytes are the right ones.
- The time shown is the time of the check. It changes every time you run the measurement again, and it has nothing to do with when this page was published.
- Every address contacted is one of ours, and they are all listed here. Open your browser’s network inspector: there are no others.
What it does not prove
- A site that answers is not a site that is right: the measurement says a server replied, not that the page you came for is up to date.
- A check that runs past a few seconds shows as not checked, never as down: nothing tells a stopped server apart from a slow connection.
- A site can answer here and still be out of reach for you elsewhere, behind an institution’s filter or a network operator that blocks it.
- Nothing is recorded. This page keeps no history and sends no measurement anywhere: no one but you sees this result, and there is no server to receive it.
A general outage is read elsewhere
Our sites are served by Cloudflare. When it is their network that fails, all of our sites go down at the same instant and this page can no longer measure anything: the host’s own dashboard is then the only thing that counts.

A link, not a call. This page contacts no outside service, neither on load nor on click: it gives you the address and leaves the choice to you.
Without JavaScript, and offline
The measurement needs JavaScript, because it happens in your browser and nowhere else. Without it this page stays whole: it says what it measures, it gives the address of every one of our sites, and it points to the host’s dashboard. It simply shows no state, because none has been measured.
Offline it is the same: nothing can be reached, so nothing is shown. An invented state would be worse than a missing one.
